Apparently unsettled with the unfolding political controversies, the inter -cum- intra membership differences, that may hamper party election victories, the Imo State Chapter Chairman for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Barr. Reginald Uwakwe and other members of the State Executive Council , organized a well attended NDC party Stakeholders meeting last Saturday and painstakingly sensitized both the 27 LGAs and the electoral Ward leaders on the need to remain strongly unfettered in their decisions, to ensure that the party wins all the elections in 2027.
Although, the enlarged stakeholders meeting which was held at the party Secretariate Owerri, didn’t start on time as earlier scheduled but the crowd patiently waited till around 3pm when the Chairman and his team finally came out for the meeting.
As the unprecedented number of stakeholders were patiently waiting for the meeting to commence, the newsmen engaged some aspirants and were informed of the grievances among key members especially those who are suspecting that their alleged victories at the polls have been substituted in favour of rival members which portrays a seeming lack of total confidence in the party primaries.
When the State Party Chairman, Barr. Uwakwe came out to preside over the meeting with an improvised public address system, he formostly apologized over the delay and explained that the reason, the meeting could not start early, was because, the party Publicity Secretary was attacked on his way to bring the main sound instruments , needed for the meeting. Admonishing the stakeholders to maintain unswerving fidelity to the party, Barr. Uwakwe, illustrated the proverbial principals of hard work and its rewards by citing the history of the party and how the founders and chairmen like himself, sacrificed themselves and finally emerged as arrow heads of the party. He told the stake holders that NDC is like the biblical Noah’s ark of salvation were Nigerians are expected to enter and be saved.
On the primary election matters; the Chairman assured the stakeholders that he is a seasoned lawyer who will always advocate for justice and fairness through the mechanisms by which the party resolves any dispute that may arise from the party’s activities. As at Press time, the Barr Uwakwem, hinted that , “INEC has not released the official names of elected candidates even the APC that conducted their Primaries several months ago have not seen the INEC lists of candidates.
