The Special Assistant to the Ebonyi State Governor on Community Engagement, Rt. Hon. Nwanchor Paulinus Maduabuchi, has commended the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chief Ije Moses Odunwa, for his continued support for farmers through the annual distribution of fertilizer and other agricultural inputs to constituents.

Nwanchor gave the commendation on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, while attending the distribution of fertilizer to farmers in Ikwo South State Constituency at Inyimagu Community, the country home of the Speaker.

He described the initiative as a laudable intervention capable of strengthening agricultural production, improving food security and empowering rural farmers to contribute more meaningfully to the economic development of their communities.

According to him, the annual fertilizer distribution programme initiated by the Speaker demonstrates a clear understanding of the importance of agriculture to the wellbeing of the people, particularly at a time when governments at various levels are encouraging citizens to return to farming and boost local food production.

Nwanchor said the gesture was not only timely but also complemented the agricultural policies and programmes of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, particularly the administration’s renewed efforts to reposition agriculture through improved access to farm inputs, mechanisation and other forms of support to farmers.

He praised the Speaker for making himself available to his constituents and for sustaining a direct connection with the people, noting that effective representation should go beyond legislative duties to include practical interventions that improve the living conditions of the electorate.

“Rt. Hon. Chief Ije Moses Odunwa has demonstrated that leadership is about touching the lives of the people directly. His annual fertilizer distribution is a practical intervention that will help our farmers increase their productivity and contribute to food security in Ebonyi State,” Nwanchor said.

He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the fertilizer, stressing that the inputs were provided to improve agricultural productivity and should therefore be applied to their farms for the intended purpose.

The Governor’s aide further encouraged the farmers to take advantage of the agricultural opportunities being provided by the state government, particularly the new agricultural mechanisation initiatives of the Nwifuru administration.

He explained that mechanisation, combined with access to quality farm inputs, improved farming techniques and proper utilisation of available agricultural resources, would help move Ebonyi from subsistence farming to a more productive and commercially viable agricultural economy.

Nwanchor also called on farmers and other residents of the state to support the agricultural transformation agenda of Governor Nwifuru, saying that the administration’s policies were designed to create opportunities for rural communities and improve the livelihood of the people.

He particularly expressed confidence in the partnership between political leaders at the state and constituency levels, saying that such collaboration would strengthen the implementation of government programmes and ensure that the benefits of governance reach the grassroots.

The Special Assistant also assured the Speaker of his continued commitment to community engagement across Ebonyi State, promising to sustain dialogue with communities and prospective electorates in support of the administration’s political and development agenda.

Nwanchor said he would continue to mobilise support for the reelection bid of Governor Nwifuru and the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, stressing that the party’s grassroots engagement would remain critical to its electoral fortunes.

He described the Speaker as a dependable partner in the development of his constituency and commended him for what he called his consistent investment in the welfare and economic empowerment of his constituents.
The fertilizer distribution exercise, which attracted farmers and community stakeholders, further underscored the growing emphasis on agriculture as a major pillar of Ebonyi State’s development strategy.

Nwanchor maintained that sustainable agricultural development required collective responsibility among government officials, legislators, traditional and community leaders, farmers and other stakeholders.

He therefore urged other elected representatives and community leaders to emulate the Speaker’s example by supporting programmes that directly impact the people, particularly initiatives capable of creating jobs, improving food production and strengthening household incomes.

He reaffirmed his commitment to Governor Nwifuru’s administration and promised to continue working with stakeholders across Ebonyi communities to deepen grassroots engagement and ensure that government programmes receive the necessary support and participation from the people.
