The Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC) has organized a one-day capacity-building training for its staff, aimed at strengthening professionalism, accountability and institutional efficiency and productivity.
The training, held on Monday at ISOPADEC Complex in Owerri, focused on Public Service Rules, Ethics, Integrity and Accountability as well as Public Administration, Official Communication, Performance Management and Productivity.

Participants expressed optimism that the programme had renewed their commitment to improving performance and contributing to the effective delivery of the Commission’s mandate.
Speaking on “Public Service Rules, Ethics, Integrity and Accountability,” Mr. Bismarck Eziohuru urged staff to shun misconduct, immorality, drunkenness, dishonesty, truancy, sleeping on duty and insubordination, describing such behaviours as inimical to effective public service.
He emphasised that integrity, honesty, accountability and discipline are essential values that should guide public servants in discharging their responsibilities and delivering tangible results.
Also Barr. Austin Otuokere, who handled the session on “Public Administration, Official Communication, Performance Management and Productivity,” advised the staff to maintain proper official records, follow established procedures and channel complaints and workplace concerns through the appropriate channels.
Otuokere further encouraged them to support relevant government policies that promote good governance and development.

In his remarks, the Managing Director of ISOPADEC, Chief Austin Onyedebelu, charged staff to embrace productivity, teamwork, transparency, regularity and punctuality in the discharge of their duties
He said the training reflected management’s commitment to strengthening workforce capacity, improving institutional efficiency and promoting a culture of professionalism, discipline, accountability and excellence in public service.
“As a Commission entrusted with the responsibility of promoting the development of oil-producing communities in Imo State, we must recognise that our effectiveness depends largely on the competence, dedication and attitude of our staff,” Onyedebelu stated.
He stressed that every staff member had a responsibility to protect the image and integrity of the Commission through punctuality, respect for established procedures, teamwork, transparency and commitment to organisational goals.

“Management expects improved productivity, better service delivery and greater accountability from all departments following this training.
“Capacity development must translate into measurable improvements in our performance and the quality of services we provide to our stakeholders and host communities,” the MD stressed.
