Douglas Princemola, a practicing journalist in Owerri, has called on all political office holders in Imo State to account for their work through a civic initiative called Operation Show Your Scorecard. The initiative is aimed at promoting transparency and responsibility ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Princemola said democracy works best when leaders are held accountable. He said every elected official, from councillors and local government chairmen to members of the State Assembly, National Assembly, and the Governor, must provide citizens with a clear report of what they have done while in office.

Public office is a trust given by the people. Citizens have the right to know how leaders have used their positions to deliver results and improve lives. The initiative encourages politicians to focus on performance and real achievements rather than promises or popularity.

He added that anyone planning to run in the 2027 elections must be ready to show real results. The scorecard is intended to measure work done, service delivery, and integrity so that voters can make informed decisions.

Princemola said when leaders share their scorecards, it builds trust between government and citizens, encourages public participation, and sets a higher standard for governance. The initiative is not political but seeks to strengthen democracy in the state.

He called on civil society, the media, and the public to support Operation Show Your Scorecard, saying it can become an important tool to drive progress.
He also said the initiative aims to create a culture where performance and integrity, not money or influence, determine success in elections. Citizens should demand results and reward leaders who deliver.

The initiative has already started generating discussions across communities in Imo State. Residents said they hope it will encourage politicians to focus on development projects, better governance, and service delivery to the people.

Princemola said Operation Show Your Scorecard is a call to action for both leaders and citizens. Leaders must take responsibility for their work, and citizens must hold them accountable. Only then can Imo State achieve real progress and good governance ahead of the 2027 elections.
