The Chairman of the African Democratic Congress in Abia State, Iyke Nwoke, has maintained that he remains the authentic leader of the party in the state, dismissing reports of factional leadership and internal divisions within the party structure.

Nwoke made the declaration during a media briefing where he insisted that no rival group or suspended member possesses the constitutional authority to challenge his leadership. According to him, the leadership of the party in the state remains intact and fully recognized by the national structure of the ADC.

The party chairman described recent claims by opposing factions as misleading and politically motivated, stressing that the ADC in Abia remains united and focused on repositioning itself ahead of the 2027 general elections. He noted that continuous efforts are ongoing to strengthen the party across the 17 local government areas of the state.

Speaking on the political future of the state, Nwoke said the ADC is determined to emerge as a strong opposition force capable of defeating Governor Alex Otti and the ruling administration in the next election cycle. He expressed confidence that residents of Abia State are ready for a new political direction that would focus on inclusive governance, economic growth, and grassroots development.

According to him, the ADC has continued to attract new members and supporters who believe in the party’s vision for transparent leadership and improved welfare for the people. He added that consultations and grassroots mobilization efforts have intensified as preparations for future elections gather momentum across the state.

Nwoke further urged party faithful to remain calm, united, and committed to the ideals of the ADC, assuring them that internal disagreements would not derail the party’s mission. He stated that the focus of the party remains building a formidable political structure capable of competing effectively and winning future elections in Abia State.

The development comes as political realignments and coalition talks continue across Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections, with opposition parties strategizing to strengthen their presence in several states.
