In a significant move towards fostering youth development and legislative training, the newly elected delegates of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) Abia State chapter paid a working visit to the Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Development, Comrade Onyebuchi Chukwu.
The delegation, which comprised prominent figures such as Rt. Hon. Charles Ezeanikwe, Ambassador-elect from Anambra State, Rt. Hon. Bright Onyebuchi Okorie, Ambassador-elect from Abia State, Rt. Hon. Kachy Madukaego, Speaker-elect of Abia State, Rt. Hon. Enoch Smith Nduka, Deputy Speaker-elect of Abia State, and Barr. Christian Anyim, the Election Committee Chairman, was warmly received by Comrade Chukwu.
In his remarks, Rt. Hon. Charles Ezeanikwe, who also aspires to the position of National Speaker of YAN, emphasized the purpose of the visit, which was to brief the Special Assistant on the activities and future plans of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria.
He highlighted the role of YAN as the premier legislative body for Nigerian youth, dedicated to advocating for youth emancipation and development.
He pointed out that YAN is structured across all 774 local government areas and 36 states of the federation, including the FCT, Abuja, and even in the diaspora, serving as a training ground for the nation’s future legislative leaders.
Ambassador Ezeanikwe also praised Comrade Onyebuchi Chukwu for his accessible and inclusive approach, expressing the Assembly’s readiness to collaborate with his office to ensure the success of youth initiatives in the state.
He further announced the upcoming YAN convention scheduled to be held in Abuja on September 11th, 2024, and invited Comrade Chukwu to participate.
In response, Comrade Onyebuchi Chukwu lauded the Youth Assembly of Nigeria as a distinguished organization comprising young leaders of great potential.
He congratulated the newly elected YAN officials of the Abia State chapter and pledged his commitment to partnering with them to achieve outstanding results in their forthcoming legislative assembly.
The visit underscores the ongoing efforts by the Abia State government to engage with youth organizations and support their endeavors, further solidifying the administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and development in the region.
