The National Labor Coalition (NLC) has officially removed Julius Abure from his position as Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) following allegations of misconduct and incompetence. The decision came after widespread occupation of LP offices nationwide, effectively displacing Abure from his leadership role.
In a statement issued by the NLC Political Board and endorsed by Secretary General, Comrade David Ekpere, Abure’s leadership came under severe scrutiny. The board expressed disappointment over Abure’s failure to address the accusations against him, instead opting to hide behind fabrications and accusations.
Entitled “Abure’s Departure: A Consequence of Mismanagement and Deceit,” the statement highlights Abure’s evasion of accountability and efforts to shift blame onto others. The NLC affirmed that the legitimate owners of the LP have assumed control, marking the conclusion of Abure’s tenure.
The board rebuffed Abure’s assertions of theft during the occupation of LP offices, asserting that the process was peaceful and witnessed by law enforcement and members of the press. They accused Abure of defamation and called upon law enforcement agencies to take appropriate action.
Looking ahead, the NLC stressed the imperative of purifying and repositioning the LP as a conduit for the advancement of Nigerian workers. They announced intentions to pursue legal recourse against Abure for defamation and financial malpractice.
In conclusion, the NLC reiterated its commitment to upholding principles of integrity and accountability within the LP. They urged Nigerian workers to maintain focus on the party’s mission despite distractions posed by individuals like Abure.
