Emeka Ihedioha, the former governor of Imo State, has tendered his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a letter dated April 23, 2024, addressed to the PDP chairman in Mbutu Ward, Aboh Mbaise local government area of Imo State, Ihedioha explained his decision.
The letter, obtained by IMONEWS, stated:
“Since 1998, I have been actively involved in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as one of its founding members. Over the years, I have proudly contributed to the party’s growth and transformation.
However, in recent times, I have observed a departure from the party’s core principles and values. Despite my efforts to advocate for internal reforms, the party seems unable to implement necessary changes or effectively oppose the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Therefore, with a heavy heart, I hereby tender my resignation from the People’s Democratic Party, effective immediately.
While this decision was not easy, I firmly believe it is the right one. Despite stepping down from the party, I remain committed to contributing to the advancement of democracy and good governance in Nigeria.”
