Ahead of the September, 21st, 2024, Imo local government polls, the All Progressives Congress ( APC) has commenced refund of nomination fees to all aspirants who could not pick the party’s ticket.
The ruling party had pegged it’s nomination and expression of interest forms at three million Naira for chairmanship position while those for counselorship went for one million Naira.
The aspirants had purchased the forms believing that there would be room for free, fair and credible primary election.
They however, got disappointed when the leader of the party in the state and South East, Governor Hope Uzodinma, announced at a stakeholders meeting held at the party’s state secretariat, Owerri, that candidates would emerge through consensus arrangement.
The governor also announced that those who could not make it would be refunded.
Presenting chaques of three and one million Naira respectively to the affected aspirants at the party’s state secretariat on Wednesday, 18th September, the state chairman of the party, Hon McDonald Ebere phd, described Senator Hope Uzodinma as a responsible man who keeps his promises.
He also commended the aspirants for their understanding just as he encouraged them to remain steadfast and loyal to the leadership of the party.
He noted that politics is not a do or die affair, pointing out that “who fails to win today, may win tomorrow”
Reacting after receiving a chaque of three Million Naira, Pastor Uche Nwole, one of the chairmanship aspirants in Mbaitoli LGA, thanked Governor Uzodinma for keeping his promise.
