A financial expert, Chief Raphael Ahuekwe has been conferred with chieftaincy title of “Ome Nneji” (man of his people) by his community, Uwalla Autonomous Community in Owerri North Council Area of Imo State.
Conferring the honour on the former Internal Control Manager of Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, last Tuesday, the Traditional Ruler, Eze Okechukwu Nwaneri said it was in appreciation cum recognition of Chief Ahuekwe’s numerous laudable contributions to the community.
Eze Nwaneri described the honour as meritorious, stressing that it would spur Chief Ahuekwe to render more selfless services for the overall good and development of Owalla people and the society at large.
The monarch said, “Chief Raphael Ahuekwe has distinguished himself as one of our best in the community. He has over time, consistently contributed his qouta to the general well-being of our people and community.
“For him, this chieftaincy title is well deserved and it is our way of saying thank you to him for all he has done and for the one he will still do.
“We as a community is so proud to have someone like him as one of our illustrious sons and we pray God to continue to keep and sustain him in good health and wisdom. Amen.”
Speaking to newsmen shortly after being conferred with the honour, the member of Institute of Bankers and Telecommunication guru dedicated the honour to God, his beloved wife, Lolo Catherine Chinyere Ahuekwe (Nee Nwajiaku) and family.
Overwhelmed with joy, Chief Ahuekwe expressed profound gratitude to the entire people of his community, adding that the honour would further encourage him to continually make positive impacts for the good of the society.
