A former member of the House of Representatives and frontline aspirant for the Ohaji/Egbema, Oguta and Oru West Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Uju Kingsley Chima, has assured the people of the constituency of improved and impactful representation if elected once again into the National Assembly.
Speaking after a stakeholders’ and aspirants’ meeting held at the Government House in Owerri, Hon. Uju expressed confidence in both his chances at the primaries and his ability to deliver quality leadership to the people.
The meeting, convened by Governor Hope Uzodimma ahead of the APC House of Representatives primaries scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2026, centered on unity, transparency and fairness within the party’s electoral process.
Addressing journalists shortly after the meeting, the former federal lawmaker said his decision to return to the National Assembly was inspired by his passion for service and the overwhelming support he continues to receive from the people of the constituency.
According to him, the strong relationship he built with constituents during his previous tenure remains one of his greatest motivations to seek re-election.
“My constituents have always stood by me. Their support over the years has been massive and encouraging. I remain grateful for the confidence they have in me, and I am ready to serve them with even greater commitment,” he stated.
Hon. Uju recalled that during his time in the House of Representatives, several empowerment programmes, constituency projects and people-oriented initiatives were attracted to the federal constituency through deliberate legislative efforts and effective representation.
He maintained that his experience in governance and lawmaking places him in a stronger position to attract more development opportunities to Ohaji/Egbema, Oguta and Oru West.
The APC aspirant further assured party faithful and constituents that if given another mandate, he would surpass his previous achievements by prioritizing infrastructure, youth empowerment, community development and effective legislative representation.
“Now that a new political process has begun, I can confidently assure my people that I will serve them with sincerity, dedication and competence. By the grace of God and the support of the people, victory is certain,” he added.
Speaking on the outcome of the meeting with Governor Uzodimma, Hon. Uju commended the governor for assuring aspirants of a transparent and credible primary election process.
He described the governor’s position as a clear indication of the APC leadership’s commitment to internal democracy and fairness.
“We met with the governor to discuss the modalities for the primaries, and I am happy with the assurances given. Governor Hope Uzodimma has promised a level playing ground for all aspirants, and that is encouraging for democracy within the party,” he said.
Hon. Uju also used the opportunity to call on APC members, stakeholders and supporters across the federal constituency to rally behind his aspiration, promising responsive leadership and stronger representation that would reflect the needs and expectations of the people.
As political activities intensify ahead of the APC primaries on Saturday, May 16, 2026, supporters of the former lawmaker believe his experience, political structure and grassroots connection could play a major role in shaping the outcome of the contest.
