APM Urges Tinubu to Account for Fuel Subsidy Savings

The All Progressives Movement (APM) has called on President Bola Tinubu’s administration to provide a detailed account of the funds saved since the removal of the fuel subsidy.

According to the party, Nigerians deserve transparency and accountability regarding the management of the savings generated from the policy, which has significantly increased the cost of living across the country. The APM urged the Federal Government to disclose the total amount saved, how the funds have been allocated, and the projects or programmes financed with the money.

The party maintained that openness in the management of public funds would strengthen citizens’ confidence in government and demonstrate that the economic reforms are yielding tangible benefits for Nigerians.

The fuel subsidy was removed in May 2023 as part of the Tinubu administration’s economic reform agenda. While the government has consistently defended the decision as necessary to stabilize the economy and free resources for development, critics and opposition groups continue to demand greater transparency on the utilization of the savings.
