The Count Down to the 15th.August 2026 Annual Mbaise New Yam Festival for the three Mbaise Local governments’ Council areas, Imo state being organized by the Apex Social cultural Organizations “Ezurezu Mbaise ” has witnessed a Distinct Shift in the Hosting Organigram with Aboh- Mbaise Shifting Council Headquarters Right to A Clan , Oke-Uvuru this time.
Hon. Tpl. Steve Onuh, Chairman Central Planning Cmtte. members of the Ezurezu Mbaise who disclosed this at the Inaugural Press Briefing for the 2026 IRI-JI Mbaise festival at the Ezurezu Civic center Aboh, Monday 20th. July 2026 .
Chief Steve Onuh used the occasion to avail the audience appraisals and preparedness of Mbaise leaders home and diaspora to improve on arrangements for the ceremony.
Their Royal Highness, Eze Adindu who spoke on behalf Ndiez Ezinihitte Mbaise with his Counterpart Eze D. O. Nwachukwu of Mbutu as well as Eze Aguwamba reiterated the significance of the Cultural festival as a period of thanksgiving to Chukwu Okike Abiama for His benevolence in offering Mankind Food through Yam Crops after planting seasons.
The Traditional ruler of Itu, Ezinihitte said Ezinihitte Mbaise Chairman of Ndieze , HRH EZE Mike Ndudiri Orji , Dimgba was unavoidably absent but consented to the Briefing . The Royal fathers solicited the cooperation and unflinchingly support of every one towards the cultural festival coming up on the 15th. August.
Speaking with Journalists after the press conference, Barrister Chief Iheukwumere Alaribe , executive Chairman of Aboh Mbaise LGA disclosed a heart warming News to Newsmen that Oke-Uvuru Sons and daughters , home and diaspora raised collectively ,a whopping sum of Forty- Five Million Naira (#45 M ) purposely to fix the deplorable Portions of the Road from Aboh Council H/Qrs. to Uvuru on the Eke-Ahiara / Aboh Mbaise/ Oke-Uvuru to Okpala Junction.
Our reporter asked what becomes the already Road reconstruction Contract on same Road being handled by NDDC Contractor , Rudo Nig. Ltd ?
The Politician said the engagement by Oke-Uvuru leaders was to Compliment efforts of governor Hope Uzodinma CON who has shown tremendous interests to the Mbaise Communities . Chief Alaribe Commended Oke-Uvuru Sons and Leaders for their Understanding . He noted that this is the first time , Iri- Ji has being Shifted outside Council Secretaiate .
He emphasized that everything must not be Politics.
On the road Route from Uvuru through Mbutu Mbaise to Big -Tyre Enyiogugu, the Local government Chairman assured that efforts are in top gear to fix broken Spots for smooth usage by Commuters before the Ceremony.
