The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has corrected his past mistakes by embracing reconciliation, describing the move as a victory for unity and political maturity.
Speaking during an inspection of ongoing projects in the Federal Capital Territory, Wike said there was nothing wrong with Fubara returning to his political family, stressing that politics is about recognising mistakes, making amends and moving forward for the collective good.
According to the former Rivers State governor, no politician should be condemned for admitting errors and choosing the path of peace. He maintained that the willingness to reconcile demonstrates leadership, humility and commitment to the progress of the state and the nation.
“In politics, there is no sin. What matters is that when you realise you have made a mistake, you correct it. There is nothing wrong with that,” Wike said, adding that Fubara’s decision to reconcile was the right step.
Wike noted that he had always believed the Rivers State governor would eventually return to the political structure that supported his emergence as governor, insisting that the reconciliation marks a new chapter for their political family.
He expressed confidence that the renewed relationship would strengthen the political structure in Rivers State and create a united front capable of delivering greater development and stability. The minister also suggested that the reconciliation would enhance preparations ahead of future political activities, including the 2027 general elections.
