Nigerian businessman and social media figure Cubana Chief Priest has called on the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives to take an active role in securing the release of detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu.
Cubana Chief Priest made the appeal during a visit to the National Assembly. He explained that Kanus continued detention has contributed to rising tension in the South East and has affected the regions peace and economic stability. He stated that many residents believe that a political solution is necessary to ease the unrest and rebuild trust between the people and the federal government.
He also pointed out the economic impact linked to the crisis, including business closures, reduced commercial activities, and fear among investors. According to him, resolving the issue around Kanus detention would help restore confidence and open the door to wider dialogue and reconciliation.
The Deputy Speaker, in his response, acknowledged the concerns raised and reaffirmed the Houses commitment to supporting peaceful and lawful approaches to national issues. He added that the legislature remains open to discussions that promote unity, fairness, and stability across all regions.
Cubana Chief Priests remarks add to ongoing calls from community leaders, civil society groups, and political stakeholders who believe that Kanus release could help reduce tensions and support long term peace efforts in the South East.
