The Federal Road Safety Corps has commenced a nationwide strategic training programme for its senior officers as part of efforts to strengthen leadership capacity, professionalism, and service delivery across the Corps.
The initiative was launched by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, under the agency’s ongoing reform agenda aimed at improving operational efficiency and adapting to modern road safety challenges in Nigeria.
According to a statement issued by the Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ohaeri, the training programme is designed to equip senior officers with the knowledge and leadership skills required to effectively manage the changing realities of road traffic administration and public service.
The Corps Marshal stated that the FRSC can no longer depend entirely on traditional enforcement methods in addressing emerging road safety concerns, noting that officers in leadership positions must adjust to new demands in traffic management, technology, and public expectations.
He explained that the modern road safety environment requires officers who possess not only technical competence but also emotional intelligence, strategic thinking, and the ability to respond proactively to complex situations on Nigerian roads.
Shehu Mohammed described the training as an important part of the Corps’ institutional transformation programme aimed at building a more responsive, disciplined, and result-driven workforce.
According to him, improving the capacity of senior officers will ultimately enhance coordination, decision-making, and operational effectiveness within the agency.
The FRSC boss also highlighted the importance of continuous professional development, noting that leadership training remains essential in maintaining high standards of service delivery and public confidence in the Corps.
He further urged participating officers to fully embrace the programme and apply the knowledge gained toward improving road safety administration and reducing accidents across the country.
Observers believe the initiative reflects the FRSC’s commitment to modernizing its operations and preparing its leadership structure to tackle evolving transportation and safety challenges nationwide.
The programme is expected to be implemented across different commands nationwide, with senior officers undergoing intensive sessions focused on leadership development, communication, operational strategy, and public engagement.
