To reinforce the new yam Igbo cultural ties, the 2027 Orlu, Orsu and Oru East Federal House of Representative hopeful, CEO Akajiugo Charity Foundation and CEO Umuna Villa Garden Hotel, Hon. Prince Joseph Okwara (aka) Akajiugo, generously played host to a creme de la creme of Orlu socio-cultural cum political leaders who recently stormed their Royal Palace, the Umuna Ancient Traditional Palace, to celebrate the 2026 new yam festival with his elder brother, HRM Eze Dr. Douglas Okwara, the Okwarachukwu ( iv).
Presenting a keynote address to their special quests, like some Traditional Rulers and their kingmakers at the event, the cultural dance groups at the event, the Orlu Political stalwarts, friends and well-wishers to Eze Okwara Royal Dynasty that came for the occasion , Hon. Prince Joseph Okwara elucidates the imperatives of using the yams harvested from the traditional soils to celebrate the annual new yam festivals as custom demands. He encouraged every Igbo man in the Igbo traditional society to inculcate and bequeath the yam cultivating culture to their Children as a legacy and a prime method of promoting agricultural production. Prince Akajiugo also noted that Governor Hope Uzodimma’s agricultural policy focuses on transforming Imo State into a self-sufficient food producer by boosting local food production to feed residents and generate export surpluses. He used the opportunity to recall that the Daily Times Media Organization, recently honoured the Imo State Governor, His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodimma with a Prestigeous award, called ” The Governor of the Decade Prestigious Award”. This award, according to Prince Akajiugo, reflects the positive impact of the Governor’s administration and a testament to his exceptional leadership qualities. He therefore congratulates the Imo State Governor and as well , entreats the people of Orlu at home and in diaspora to remain unfettered in galvanizing supports for both the State Governor and every candidate of the All Progressives Congress ( APC) as to ensure a hitch free election victory for the party in 2027.
Highpoints of the occasion was prayers, said by the Traditional Ruler of Umuna Ancient kingdom for peace and unity in the land, prayers and thanksgiving to God for the new yam and the point of feasting on; the well prepared roasted yams, served pounded yams with local sauces, palm wine and display of colourful traditional dances.
Remarkably, Prince Akajiugo, obviously mesmerized his quests with attractive edibles , drinks and special offers.
