A new era has begun in Egbuoma Ancient Kingdom with the formal presentation of Prince Ezennajihu Denton Okorie Ogbuehi, Esq., Agu Udo, Ogbuehi Eze Ako L’Obieze, as the King, Paramount Ruler and Ezeigwe XI of Egbuoma Ancient Kingdom.
The historic event took place on Tuesday, 8 September 2026, at the Royal Palace of Egbuoma, following the transition of the late revered Monarch, HRM Eze Ezeanogbuomba Okorie Ogbuehi, Ezeigwe X, and the completion of the traditional rites associated with his passing.

The presentation brought together the Ezeigwe-in-Council, the Oluoha, the Okpara, the Ogbuehi, the leadership of the Egbuoma Progressive Union and distinguished sons and daughters of Egbuoma.
The atmosphere was one of tradition, dignity and renewed hope as the ancient Kingdom welcomed its new Monarch and opened another chapter in its long history.
Speaking on the succession, the Regent, Prince Eugene Ezeanogbuomba Okorie Ogbuehi, explained that the Egbuoma throne is not determined through an election, but through the traditional Umuezegbu Conclave, in accordance with the customs and established traditions of the Ogbuehi Royal Dynasty.

Representatives from the seven Houses of the Royal Dynasty came together after the completion of the traditional rites for the late Monarch to consider the succession.
After careful deliberation, the Conclave unanimously chose Prince Ezennajihu Denton Okorie Ogbuehi as the rightful successor to the ancient throne and presented him to the people as Ezeigwe XI.
In his first address as Monarch, Ezeigwe XI expressed deep gratitude to the Ogbuehi Royal Dynasty, the traditional institutions and the people of Egbuoma for entrusting him with the great responsibility of leading the Kingdom.
He also thanked His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, Executive Governor of Imo State, for providing a peaceful environment during the transition process.
The new King called on all sons and daughters of Egbuoma to put aside division, bitterness and rancour and come together in the spirit of love, peace and unity.
He called for a new spirit of cooperation among the people, stressing that the future of Egbuoma depends on the ability of its sons and daughters to work together for the good of the Kingdom.

Education will be a major part of the Monarch’s vision. Ezeigwe XI pledged to work towards ensuring that every indigene of Egbuoma has the opportunity to receive primary, secondary and tertiary education, wherever he or she may live.
He also placed strong attention on agriculture and food security, promising to support efforts that will increase food production and help the Kingdom provide adequately for its people.
The Monarch urged his subjects to remain peaceful, law-abiding and respectful of the values and heritage handed down by their ancestors.
He stated that he would serve with fairness, equity and justice and would uphold his allegiance to Egbuoma Ancient Kingdom and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The new reign has received the support of the Egbuoma Progressive Union. Its President-General, Mr. Cyril Uzokwe, welcomed the emergence of the new Monarch and described it as an opportunity for greater peace, unity and development in Egbuoma.
He pledged the loyalty, cooperation and support of the Union to Ezeigwe XI and promised to communicate the development to the wider Egbuoma community.
The Chairman of the Egbuoma Progressive Union, Home Branch, Apostle Okechukwu Mbanefo, also commended the Royal Family for the peaceful and orderly conduct of the succession process.
He pledged the continued support of the Home Branch to the new Monarch as he assumes the responsibilities of the ancient throne.
The emergence of Ezeigwe XI marks more than a change of leadership. It represents the beginning of a new journey for Egbuoma Ancient Kingdom, built on the foundations of tradition and directed towards a future of peace, education, security, agriculture and prosperity.
The Ogbuehi Royal Dynasty has called on all sons and daughters of Egbuoma, traditional institutions, community organisations and friends of the Kingdom to support the new reign and join hands in building a stronger and more united Egbuoma.
With a new Monarch on the throne, the people of Egbuoma now look towards the future with renewed hope, confidence and determination.
