As the November 7th Local Government Council election in Imo, finally approaches, an alleged infinitesimal number of attention seekers and disguised Imo welfare enemies, have been fingered again, to had devised a misleading petition to EFCC , with the aim blackmailing the Imo State Government and the former Local Government Council Chairmen who may be democratically returned as Chairmen on the 7th of November.
In a well Organized interactive session between newsmen and some indeginous pressure groups in Orlu LGA, Imo journalists raised questions on the unmasked brains behind the attempts by a said group in Orlu LGA , to incite the anti corruption bodies against the immediate past Local Government administration in Imo with reference to a banner headline where the same group alleged that they have dragged Hon. Mbarie to EFCC over his achievements as the former Orlu LGA Council Chairman.
Knowing that a serving Local Government Council Chairman do not have a constitutional immunity, Imo journalists queried why the said group failed to visit the EFCC when the council Chairmen were still in power or submit their petitions to the State Government, the Imo House of Assembly, or the Auditors for the expected effective results.
In their reactions to the questions, both of the National Presidents for the Orlu Diaspora Elites Assembly (ODEA) Chief Dr. Okolie Anderson, and the Orlu City WatchDog Progressives, Chief Gilbert Okoroigwe, stated that it is only the enemies to Governor Hope Uzodimma’s good records, that can incite EFCC on the Imo ALGON. They lucidly described the EFCC Saga as a failed sponsored attack on the Government of Imo State. He noted that the men who are secretly calling on the EFCC to quiz the past Local Government Council Chairmen including , Hon pastor Chris Mbarie whose records of achievements remains unbeatable, new that those secret invitation to EFCC is a gross disrespect to the serving Governor of Imo State , Sen. Hope Uzodimma and the Imo State House of Assembly who have their eyes well fixed on the council Chairmen.
The ODEA group President and other leaders proudly affirmed that pastor Mbarie got all the laurel awards from Imo journalists and other Organizations because his hands are very clean in the Local Government Council administration. The group stated that from the date Hon.Pst. Mbarie assumed duty as the Orlu Local Government Council Chairman till the end of their tenure, the auditors, the councilors and the State House of Assembly did not link him to any case of irregularities, fraudulent activities, negligence to duty or incompetence. According to Dr. Anderson Okolie ” It is only the illiterates and the ignoramus that will hurry to EFCC without an insight into the local government account, the nature of accounts and their uses. ” Your petition to EFCC will fail if you don’t know the extent to which the objectives of auditing have been achieved in the local government council’s finance . “Therefore, until both the internal auditors, the external auditor, the Hon. Councilors, the State Government and the State House of Assembly come into the same page with the petitioners, their selfish efforts remain futile”.
In a message of appreciation, the Hon. Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Chief Mrs Ruby Emele, extends a profound message of commendation to Hon. Pst. Mbarie for his lead records of service on to Orlu LGA and the state Government especially the areas and infrastructural development, which according to Hon. Emele is worth emulating and commendable.
