Imo To Rank Best Digitalized State In Nigeria Under Governor Uzodimma, Says Amadi

Dr. Chimezie Amadi, the newly inaugurated Commissioner for Digital Economy and E-Government, has disclosed that Imo State under Governor Hope Uzodimma would achieve an enviable position as the most digitilized state in the federation, stressing that the uncommon feat in the technology driven world economy would bring unmatched transformation in the state in-line with the 3R Government vision.

The telecommunications and digital expert, who fielded questions from newsmen at Ikenegbu; the venue of his reception, was also full of gratitude to Governor Uzodimma for finding him worthy to serve the state during this second tenure of consolidation of his progressive leadership, describing such as an honour and privilege to be reciprocated through hard work and commitment towards the success of the present government.

Dr Amadi, while emphasizing the all importance of digitization and digitalization in engineering sweeping transformation across every sector of the economy and society, lauded Governor Uzodimma for his wise decision and ingenuity towards making the state to embrace technology and digitalized economy with the attendant numerous benefits to the citizens of the state.

The Nnangele LGA-born technocrat, who further hailed Governor Uzodimma’s visionary leadership, revealed that Imo State would soon become the most digitilized state and the technology hub of Nigeria with the ongoing Skill-Up Project of the present government as well as its plans through the Ministry of Digital Economy to build digital infrastructures like: Digita Literacy Village as well as starting the Connected Imo Project.

Furthermore, Dr. Amadi, disclosed that ‘The 10 Years Economic Plan’ of Governor Uzodimma’s 3R Government has digitalization of the state as a critical component, and added that the Digital Literacy Village; the first of its kind in Nigeria would ensure the training, up-skilling, re-skilling and equipping of Imo people with cutting edge digital talents to make them agents of economic development towards enhancing their lives and the society at large.

The Connected Imo Project, he explained, would ensure that all the towns and communities in the state enjoy unhindered access to the internet and telecommunications services through connection to the worldwide web like those in the metropolis, thus revolutionizing digital based activities for the progress of the state. He said that in this connection, the state is partnering with the Federal Ministry of Communication, Digital Economy and Innovation and service providers.

Dr. Amadi, used the opportunity to appreciate Imo youths for being exceptional and amazing in embracing technology and urged them not to relent, but to strengthen their dispositions with various opportunities provided by his ministry including the ongoing Skill-Up Imo Project. He promised that his office would continue to go beyond training and equipping them to connecting them to job opportunities and better placements, as he disclosed plans to ensure that each Imo citizen acquired one digital skill.

Many dignitaries graced the occasion, including the member representing Aboh Mbaise State Constituency, Hon. Princewill Amuche and his Owerri Municipal Council counterpart, Hon. Clinton Amadi and Chief Gilbert Nwoke among others.
