Hon. Pastor Frank Onwumere, the Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Motor Parks Supervision and Illegal Parking, recently spoke on Zanders FM Radio 107.5 to address traffic and road user concerns. The broadcast took place on July 13th, 2024, at 10:00 PM.
During the radio program, Onwumere was joined by ASP Henry Okoye, the Public Relations Officer of the Imo State Police Command, and Chief Chima Chukwunyere, the Chairman of the Imo Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC). They engaged with the people of Imo State, especially drivers, stressing the necessity of obeying traffic laws and respecting regulations.
The radio show, which attracted numerous callers from across the state, emphasized the importance of following traffic rules to ensure smooth traffic flow and reduce congestion on major roads in the Owerri Metropolis. Onwumere expressed his dedication to maintaining road order and announced that violators of traffic laws would be prosecuted.
Onwumere praised Governor Uzodimma for his efforts in repairing key roads such as the Owerri/Orlu road, the Owerri/Okigwe road, the Owerri/Mbaise-Umuahia road, and the Imo Airport road. He assured the public of his commitment to delivering quality service and promised to carry out his duties with a focus on humanity.
The adviser called for an end to illegal motor parks and highlighted his office’s determination to eradicate crime through constant supervision of motor parks. Chief Chukwunyere encouraged Onwumere to fulfill his responsibilities effectively.
ASP Okoye commended Onwumere’s efforts and urged road users, especially commercial drivers, to always comply with the law. He warned that disobeying traffic rules could result in accidents and fatalities. Okoye also emphasized the importance of registering vehicles with the Central Motor Registration (CRM) system for better tracking and identification.
Okoye assured the public of a strong partnership between the police and the office of the Special Adviser, aiming to enhance road safety and reduce crime. Onwumere also praised Imo Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, and his team for their ongoing efforts to combat insecurity in the state.
