In the face of Nigeria’s adversity, operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have intercepted and impounded 21 trucks laden with grains in Borno State, destined for neighboring countries.
The articulated vehicles were reportedly bound for N’Djamena, the capital of the Republic of Chad, Cameroon, and Central Africa.
EFCC agents in Maiduguri conducted separate raids on Tuesday along international exit routes in the Kalabari/Gamboru Ngala and Bama areas, apprehending the trucks.
The smuggling of food items out of the country is suspected to have contributed significantly to Nigeria’s hardships and the high cost of living.
According to officials, all individuals apprehended in connection with the trucks will undergo prosecution following a comprehensive investigation.
