Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has cautioned his rivals against viewing his acceptance of the presidential peace pact brokered by Bola Tinubu as a display of weakness.
Speaking on Wednesday, Fubara acknowledged receiving numerous comments about implementing the pact.
He clarified that President Tinubu’s intervention in the feud between himself and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, and the state’s political crisis last October, is a political resolution, not a constitutional one.
Despite criticism from opponents for his perceived silence, which they interpret as weakness, Fubara emphasized his respect for President Tinubu and his decision to comply with the resolution.
Issuing a stern warning, Fubara stated that any perception of weakness on his part would result in surprises for his adversaries.
Addressing local government workers during a solidarity visit, Fubara assured them of his unwavering support as long as they uphold righteousness.
He affirmed the commencement of the N30,000 minimum wage for local government workers and pledged to finalize plans for implementing the Consolidated Salary Scale for Grade Level 17, as well as regular payment of benefits to retirees.
Fubara emphasized his commitment to leading with integrity and maturity, asserting that he will not tolerate any mistreatment of himself or his administration.
The National Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Ajewole Ayedele, expressed satisfaction with Governor Fubara’s people-centric policies.
