The Board of Trustees Chairman of Okigwezurumee, High Chief Dr. Cyriacus Obialor has appealed to Owerri and Orlu zones respectively to allow Okigwe zone to complete its remaining four years tenure in 2027.
High Chief Dr. Cyriacus Obialor said that the only way the Imo charter of equity can work or function effectively, would be for Okigwe zone to complete it’s four years term.
The Traditional Prime Minister of Amano Anara Autonomous Community in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State added that the charter of equity was truncated in 2011 when the then Governor, Dr. Ikedi Ohakim, who is from Okigwe zone sought for reelection, only for Owerri zone who would have taken over from Okigwe zone of Ikedi ohakim Governorship, supported Owelle Rochas Okorocha from Orlu zone to win the election.
He maintained that the charter of equity is not a constitutional matter rather a political arrangement made by the elders of Imo State to allow power to shift from the three brothers zones in the state.
The highly respected Traditional Prime Minister further said that for equity, fairness and natural Justice to prevail, Okigwe zone should be allowed to complete the remaining four years tenure.
Dr. Obialor pointed out that if Okigwe zone is not allowed in 2027, the issue of Imo charter of equity will be buried completely in the State.
According to him, “Imolites can only believe in the charter of equity if only natural justice is allow to prevail in the case of Okigwe zone that was not allowed to complete their tenure in 2011”.
He called on the Imo elders to rally round Okigwe zone in it’s bid to complete the remaining four years in 2027.
Ugwumba as he is fondly called, beckoned on Owerri and Orlu zones respectively to join hands with Okigwe zone to produce the next Governor of Imo State in 2027.
