The police commands in Imo and Plateau states have announced a ban on the sale, distribution, and use of fireworks during the upcoming Christmas celebrations. In Imo State, Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma warned that anyone caught selling, possessing, or using fireworks would face arrest and prosecution. He assured residents that the command would conduct intensified patrols and targeted operations to enforce the ban, emphasizing that the safety of lives and property is a top priority during the holiday season.

Similarly, in Plateau State, Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Adesina stressed that fireworks can pose serious risks, including public panic and security challenges. He urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to educate youths about the dangers of violating the ban and to cooperate with law enforcement to ensure a peaceful Christmas season.

Both police commands called on residents to comply fully with the directive, emphasizing that the ban is designed to protect citizens and prevent incidents that could disrupt festive celebrations.
