A support group backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commenced its mobilisation activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election, following the lifting of the campaign ban by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The development signals the beginning of a more active political season as parties, politicians and support groups across the country intensify preparations for the next general election.

The group, Hope Alive Initiative, is reportedly focusing on grassroots mobilisation, with plans to take its message to communities across different parts of Nigeria.

Supporters of President Tinubu are expected to use the campaign period to highlight what they describe as the achievements of the administration and to appeal to Nigerians for another mandate in 2027.

The commencement of campaign activities is also expected to increase political engagement as various presidential hopefuls and their supporters begin reaching out to voters.

The ruling All Progressives Congress is expected to deploy its nationwide structures in support of Tinubu’s re-election bid, while opposition parties are also preparing their strategies for the contest.

Prominent opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, are expected to feature prominently in the political activities leading up to the election.

With the campaign season now open, Nigerians are likely to witness more rallies, town-hall meetings, consultations and grassroots engagements as political actors seek to win the confidence of voters.

Political stakeholders have, however, urged politicians and their supporters to conduct their campaigns peacefully and focus on issues that directly affect the lives of Nigerians.

The 2027 election is expected to be closely watched, given the growing political realignments and intense competition among the various political camps.

For Tinubu’s supporters, the campaign represents an opportunity to convince Nigerians that the President deserves a second term based on the policies and programmes of his administration.

The opposition, on the other hand, is expected to use the campaign period to challenge the government’s record and present alternative solutions to the country’s economic and social challenges.

As political activities gather momentum, Nigerians will ultimately have the opportunity to assess the competing messages, policies and promises before deciding who will receive their mandate in 2027.
