Four members of the Imo State House of Assembly have been suspended for allegedly plotting to remove Speaker Chike Olemgbe from his position.
The suspended legislators include Samuel Otuibe (representing Ahiazu-Mbaise), Henry Agbasonu (representing Ezinihitte-Mbaise), Chidiebere Ogbunikpa (representing Okigwe), and Dominic Ezerioha (representing Oru-West).
During a plenary session on Tuesday, Speaker Olemgbe announced the suspensions, stating that the decision was made in an Executive Section meeting.
The Speaker also declared that all committee responsibilities held by the suspended members have been revoked.
In a brief 20-minute session, the Speaker announced minor reshuffles of the standing committees.
The suspended members present during the announcement declined to speak to the press.
