SSANU Chairman FUTO, Nwokeji, says he ‘ll continually defend people’s rights, freedom

A humanitarian, rights activist and Chairman, Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), FUTO, Comr. Nwokeji Uchenna Sunday (KSJI, CNA), has vowed that he would continually speak for freedom of the people in order to firmly advance their cause, rights, privileges and needs for improved good living, peace, comfort and the edification of the society.

The SSANU Chairman of FUTO made the vow while having audience with journalists after he was conferred with a meritorious “Leadership Icon Award” by Rotary Club of Owerri Royals, during the Club’s installation ceremony of its 3rd President, Rtn Winifred Chinonye Osuigwe, held at Renton Hotel and Suites, last Saturday, in Owerri.

Nwokeji who is also the Chairman of SSANU, Imo State, Council Member Chairman, FUTO, Joint Action Congress, FUTO, Member, National Executive Council of SSANU and President, Owerri People’s Club, said he will always stand boldly to defending the rights and freedom of the relegated people in the society with a view to exempting them from oppression and harm.

Nwokeji mentioned that he had gotten several dignifying Medals given to his humanitarian activities, doggedness to truth, effective service to the community and the defense of the vulnerable across board, called on people to always stand tall in defending themselves against oppression, suppression and servitude.

He said the Award would always spur him to intensify humanitarian service, activism and goodness to humanity and the society to help improve peace, welfare and wellbeing of the people who he pointed out till the soil, but get meagre proceeds.

Reflecting that he felt delighted receiving the Award from Rotary Club of Owerri Royals, Nwokeji thanked the Club for finding him worthy of the Accolade to which he reiterated to enliven.

“I feel happy and I believe the Medal of Honor will greatly inspire me to do more charity work to people and the society. Also, I will always be an upright comrade – to continue to speak the truth – for the freedom of the people, not for their mercy – because when you shout for mercy you have surrendered – but when you stand for freedom – one day, God will come for your rescue. The Awards I receive from people meritoriously make me to be stronger to do humanitarian works and I call on wealthy persons out there to extend help to people around their community to enable them assuage economic hardship, poverty and vulnerability”, Nwokeji maintained.

Felicitating with the awardee, the National Vice President of SSANU, South East, Comr. Ken Njoku, disclosed that SSANU Members were happy of the Honor bestowed on Comr. Nwokeji Uchenna Sunday hence their solidarity – even as he prayed for God’s sustenance of the dogged rights activist and humanitarian.
