A prominent stakeholder of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Barr. Nnabugwu Oluchi Green, has commended the Christian body for its contributions to peacebuilding, unity and the promotion of Christian values in Nigeria as it marks its 50th anniversary.

Barr. Nnabugwu gave the commendation while speaking with journalists during the Golden Jubilee celebration, inauguration and send-forth ceremony organised by CAN on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at ECWA Church, Aladinma, Owerri, Imo State.

He noted that over the past five decades, CAN had continued to play significant roles in promoting peaceful coexistence, religious harmony and national development, adding that the Association had remained an important voice in advocating peace and unity across the country.

The CAN stakeholder also applauded the Association for recognising the contributions of the Executive Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, to the Christian body.

He described the award presented to the Governor as a well-deserved recognition of his support for CAN, stressing that the plaque could hardly measure the extent of his contributions to the Association.
“That plaque is not even enough to qualify what he has done for CAN. It is just a symbol of his assistance to the Association,” Barr. Nnabugwu stated.

He maintained that recognising individuals and institutions that have supported the Christian body would further encourage partnership, mutual understanding and sustained commitment to the development of the Association.

In a related development, Barr. Nnabugwu congratulated Rev. Dr. Eches Divine Eches on his inauguration as the South-East Zonal Chairman of CAN.

He expressed confidence that the new zonal chairman’s emergence would usher in another chapter in the leadership and activities of the Association, while wishing him a successful and impactful tenure.

According to him, it was particularly significant that Rev. Eches assumed the leadership position at a time CAN was celebrating its Golden Jubilee, describing the coincidence as a remarkable moment in the history of the Association.

He further wished CAN continued progress, unity and strength as it moves into the next phase of its existence, urging its leaders and members to sustain the values of peace, love, religious tolerance and service to humanity.
