In a fervent plea for equity and recognition, Prince Maduba Chukwudi Francis, a renowned activist and councilorship aspirant, has urged the State Government led by Senator Hope Uzodinma and the All Progressives Congress (APC) headed by Dr. Macdonald Ebere to cede the Oguta Local Government Council chairmanship ticket to the Agwa block. This call aims to address the long-standing marginalization that the Agwa clan has faced under the current administration.
Speaking to newsmen in Owerri, Prince Maduba emphasized that Agwa is the most significant block in the Oguta Local Government Area, boasting substantial voting strength and rich natural resources. Despite these assets, the clan has seen little to no infrastructural development or significant appointments under the current government.
“Agwa has endured enough,” Prince Maduba stated passionately. “This is the right time to pacify the people with the local government council chairmanship. We have credible sons and daughters with the democratic credentials and qualities needed to govern Oguta Local Government Area.”
Prince Maduba’s call for the chairmanship ticket to be given to an Agwa person comes as a direct appeal to both the state leadership and the APC to recognize and address the historical injustices faced by the community. He believes that such a move would not only be a step towards fairness but also a strategic decision given Agwa’s electoral influence and resource contributions.
The activist highlighted that the Agwa clan, despite its contributions, has been overlooked in terms of developmental projects and key government positions. He argued that granting the chairmanship to an Agwa candidate would be a significant gesture of goodwill and an acknowledgment of the clan’s potential and importance within the local government area.
